A Federal High Court in Cross River State has convicted a couple for trafficking babies.
The National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons secured the conviction against Esther Udo and Eyo Udo.
The court heard that the woman sold her newborn baby for N300,000, while the couple also bought and resold a one-year-old boy for profit.
Justice I. Ojukwu sentenced both of them to 15 years in prison each, with an option of a N2 million fine.
The judge strongly condemned the act and warned the public against child trafficking for financial gain.
The court also ordered the arrest of the alleged buyer, who is currently on the run.
